Behind the Images: June

Hello beautiful people,

I have to admit something embarrassing. I don’t remember what sticker I mailed out in June.

The whole month is a bit of a blur. My 9-5 job is at a community art center in Kansas, and from the first week of June through the first week of August, we run summer art camps for kids under 12. Each week, 48 new kids were filtering into the building, and it was my job to make sure each one had all the art supplies they needed, in the right amounts on time and on budget. So when I slipped the prints and stickers into envelopes this month, I unfortunately did so with about 10% of my normal brainpower.

So with that in mind, I humbly present June’s print:

This print is a photo I took from the top floor of the building I work in some gloomy February afternoon. I like all the items sitting in the windowsill in silhouette, but I’ve always found this view striking. The big open spaces of the parking garage remind me a little of the lonely cityscapes made by the painter Edward Hopper. You might know his work “Nighthawks” but I’m personally more partial to this (very strange) composition, “Office in a Small City” which seems to have no glass in the windows.

Anyway, if you’re a member of print club or sticker club, you did get a sticker I just can’t for the life of me remember what it was. Really emphasizing the mystery element!

I hope each of you are having a great summer and have gotten the chance to soak up some sunlight and good vibes.

Cheers,

Kathryn
